Genus Acomis Family Asteraceae

Description: Erect, slender annual or perennial herbs.

Leaves alternate.

Heads terminal, on slender peduncles; heads broadly hemispherical; involucral bracts usually 2-seriate, scarious; receptacle convex, scales absent. Florets tubular, 5-toothed, bisexual, numerous. Anthers with fine tails, often inconspicuous. Style branches long, truncate, with obtuse sweeping hairs.

Achenes oblong or narrow, with short globose twin hairs; pappus absent.


Distribution and occurrence: World: c. 3 species, endemic Australia. Australia: Qld, N.S.W.
