Genus Anopterus Family Escalloniaceae

Description: Shrubs or small trees.

Leaves alternate, usually clustered at end of shoots, simple, mostly toothed.

Inflorescences terminal racemes. Calyx tube short, 6–9-toothed. Petals as many as calyx teeth. Stamens as many as petals. Ovary superior, 1-locular; style 2-lobed.

Fruit a leathery capsule, opening in 2 recurved valves; seeds numerous, flattened, winged.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 2 species, endemic Australia. Australia: Qld, N.S.W., Tas.
