Genus Apalochlamys Family Asteraceae

Description: Biennial herbs.

Leaves alternate, cauline, sessile, often ± decurrent.

Heads terminal in large loose panicles; heads slender, ± ovoid; involucral bracts c. 5-seriate, imbricate, scarious with small herbaceous region at base; receptacle with small scarious scales. Florets narrow-funnelform, bisexual, 5-toothed. Anthers finely tailed, with short apical appendages. Style branches linear, truncate and flattened papillose apices.

Achenes terete; pappus bristles 1-seriate, ± fused at base, barbellate.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
