Genus Apophyllum Family Capparaceae

Description: Shrub or tree, finely hairy, dioecious; branches leafy at first, leaves shed early and branches terete and cladode-like.

Inflorescence usually a raceme or flowers in clusters or solitary. Flowers unisexual. Sepals 3 or 4. Petals 2–5. Male flowers with 8–16 stamens, as long as the petals. Female flowers often with 1–3 stamens, ovary on a gynophore.

Fruit globose; seed usually 1, rarely 2.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
