Genus Camptacra Family Asteraceae

Description: Perennials, seasonal stems arising from woody rootstock.

Leaves alternate.

Inflorescence terminal, heads solitary. Heads campanulate; involucral bracts imbricate in several series, with or without membranous margins; receptacle ± convex, scales absent. Outer ray florets 1- or 2-seriate, female; corolla not persistent, base not enlarged; style branches linear, ± truncate. Inner disc florets narrow-funnelform, bisexual, usually fertile, corolla persisting; style branches linear, acute, papillose. Anthers obtuse at base, apical appendage lanceolate, with central core of darker tissue. Style base not conspicuously swollen.

Achenes linear-terete to compressed linear-terete, striate, ridges between opposing faces not well-defined, ± purplish when mature; pappus of 1 to 2 rows barbellate bristles, similar in disc and ray florets.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 2 species, Australia & New Guinea. Australia: 2 species (1 species endemic), Qld, N.S.W., N.T.
