Genus Facelis Family Asteraceae

Description: Annual or perennial herbs.

Leaves alternate, entire.

Heads sessile in leaf axils or crowded at the ends of the branches; involucral bracts imbricate, several-seriate, scarious or leaf-like; receptacle naked. Outer disc florets in many series, female, filiform or tubular, apex truncate or toothed, style well exserted; inner disc florets few, bisexual, tubular, 5-toothed. Anthers saggitate at the base. Style branches linear, hairy dorsally.

Achenes obovoid, densely hairy; pappus of plumose hairs, fused at the base.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 4 species, South America. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).
