Genus Howittia Family Malvaceae

Description: Shrubs with the stems and leaves covered with stellate hairs.

Leaves simple, not lobed.

Flowers solitary, axillary. Epicalyx absent. Calyx lobes 5. Staminal column short, stamens numerous. Ovary 3-locular, each loculus 2-ovulate; style 1; stigmas 3, capitate.

Fruit a loculicidal capsule.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
