Genus Isoetopsis Family Asteraceae

Description: Annual herbs, tufted, stemless.

Leaves basal, linear, erect.

Heads axillary, sessile, clumped at base of plant; involucral bracts 2-seriate, imbricate, outer ± herbaceous, inner ± scarious; receptacle flat, scales absent, pitted. Outer florets female, tubular, 3–4-seriate; corolla narrow at apex with 3 or 4 small slender, acute lobes. Inner florets bisexual, sterile, few, corolla campanulate; anthers obtuse at base, apical appendage subulate and prominent.

Achenes dimorphic; outer obconic, with 2-fid hairs, pappus of large free scales; inner aborted, glabrous, pappus absent.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
