Genus Parantennaria Family Asteraceae

Description: Dioecious perennial herbs, ± glabrous.

Leaves alternate, entire, crowded.

Heads unisexual, terminal, solitary, ± sessile; involucral bracts imbricate, several-seriate, scarious, tips often spreading; receptacle naked, ± flat. Ray florets absent; disc florets numerous; female florets fertile, filiform, 2–4-toothed; bisexual florets sterile, tubular, 4- or 5-toothed. Anthers saggitate at the base. Style branches glabrous.

Achenes glabrous, of female florets terete, of bisexual florets obconical; pappus of fine barbellate bristles.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
