Genus Peristeranthus Family Orchidaceae

Description: Epiphytic herbs, monopodial; roots creeping over the surface of the substrate or aerial, fibrous.

Leaves scattered along the stem, 2 or more per shoot, distichous, conduplicate.

Inflorescence racemose, many-flowered, lateral; flowers resupinate. Sepals and lateral petals free, similar. Labellum free, hinged to tip of column foot; lamina 2-lobed, shallowly saccate, bearing a finger-like callus on the anterior wall of the spur. Column lacking free filament and style; column wings apparently absent. Column foot much shorter than column. Anther incumbent, cap-like. Pollinia 4, waxy. Stigma entire. Rostellum prominent, deeply 2-fid, ventral.
