Genus Pseudovanilla Family Orchidaceae

Description: Climbing saprophytic herbs, monopodial; roots from nodes of the main stems, creeping over the surface of the substrate or aerial.

Leaves yellow to brown, scattered along the shoot, many per shoot, alternate, convolute.

Inflorescence paniculate, many-flowered, lateral or terminal; flowers resupinate. Sepals free, similar. Lateral petals free, similar to sepals. Labellum free, attached at base of column; lamina not lobed, with 2 longitudinal keels, densely warty. Column lacking free filament and style; column wings absent. Column foot absent. Anther incumbent, cap-like. Pollinia 2, granular. Stigma entire. Rostellum absent.

Seeds crustose, winged.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 8 species, Malesia, Melanesia, Australia. Australia: 1 species (endemic).
