Description: Annual or perennial herbs or subshrubs.

Leaves mostly imparipinnate; stipules either large and leaf-like or small.

Inflorescences axillary, pedunculate umbels, 4–20-flowered. Calyx campanulate, teeth ± equal. Keel curved, apex acute. Stamens diadelphous, some filaments dilated upwards.

Pod linear, straight or curved, 4-angled, not or slightly constricted between seeds, separating into 1-seeded articles.


Flowering: World: 12 species, Mediterranean and Middle East. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).

Distribution and occurrence:


One species in NSW: Securigera varia
