Genus Synaptantha Family Rubiaceae

Description: Annual herbs.

Leaves opposite; stipules sheathing, 2-toothed, hyaline.

Flowers mostly 1 or 2, rarely up to 5, in axillary cymes, bisexual, 4-merous. Calyx tubular, 4-lobed, persistent in fruit. Corolla rotate, persistent in fruit. Stamens fused to base of corolla tube. Ovary 2-locular, ovules several per loculus. Style short; stigma 2-lobed.

Fruit a capsule, 2-valved, few seeded.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
