Colobanthus apetalus var. apetalus (Labill.) Druce APNI*

Description: Densely tufted and much-branched herb.

Leaves linear, 10–20 mm long, tapering gradually into a fine hair c. 0.6 mm long; lamina soft, often recurved, somewhat flaccid.

Pedicels usually 8–12 mm long. Sepals 2.5–4 mm long, acuminate.

Capsule c. 3 mm long, as long as calyx; seeds reddish brown, wrinkled.


Flowering: late spring and summer.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in drier alpine areas and at lower altitudes than C. affinis, in grassland and herbfields.
