Abutilon theophrasti Medik. APNI*

Description: Stout erect annual to 1 m high, with stiff stellate hairs.

Leaves with lamina circular-cordate, acuminate, 2–10 cm long, to 30 c. in moist sites.

Calyx c. 10 mm long, divided almost to the base, the wide lobes exceeding the tube. Corolla 15–18 mm long.

Fruit c. 20 mm diam., black; mericarps 10–15, awned.


Flowering: summer–autumn.

Distribution and occurrence: Uncommon on creek banks, margins of shallow depressions and swamp areas. Native of Medit. and Asia.
