Acanthospermum australe (Loefl.) Kuntze APNI*

Description: Prostrate herb; stems up to 60 cm long, with multicelled hairs.

Leaves opposite, ovate to rhomboid, usually 15–25 mm long, 8–15 mm wide, crenate, with sparse appressed hairs, dotted with glands mostly on underside, petiolate.

Heads on short leafy branches; heads narrow-campanulate; outer involucral bracts 1–2 mm long, lanceolate to elliptic; inner bracts up to 10 mm long. Ray florets white or yellowish, shorter than bracts and disc florets. Disc florets 5–10.

Achenes 7–9 mm long, 5–7 ribbed, with prickles 1–2 mm long.
