Aotus mollis Benth. APNI*

Description: Erect, much-branched shrub 0.5–1.5 m high; stems densely velvety-tomentose.

Leaves mostly in irregular whorls of 3, occasionally opposite or alternate, linear, 8–15 mm long, 1 mm wide, margins revolute, upper surface of at least young leaves pubescent; petiole c. 1 mm long.

Flowers 1-several in upper leaf axils; bracts to 2 mm long; pedicels c. 1 mm long. Calyx 3–4 mm villous; teeth acute. Corolla 6–10 mm long; standard yellow streaked with purple; wings yellow; keel 6 mm long, purple.

Pod obovate, 6–7 mm long, turgid, villous.


Flowering: winter–spring.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in dry sclerophyll forest on sandy soils; chiefly in the Pilliga Scrub.
