Aristida blakei B.K.Simon APNI*

Description: Annual or short-lived tufted perennial to c. 1 m high; culms smooth, glabrous, glaucous, terete, many branched at lower nodes.

Leaves with sheath smooth, glabrous; ligule c. 0.2 mm long; blade flattened and flexuous, 3 mm wide, smooth or lightly scabrous on both surfaces.

Panicle loosely contracted, narrow, usually 10–35 cm long, branches erect. Glumes lanceolate, long-acuminate from a usually notched apex or aristulate, subequal or unequal. Lemma linear-elliptic, convolute, 8–12 mm long, distinctly tuberculate in the upper half, pallid to pale mauve; awns filiform, becoming divergent, subequal, to 35 mm long.
