Aristida leichhardtiana Domin APNI* 
Description: Tussocky, erect, slender perennial, to 0.5 m high; culms thin, cylindrical, striate, branched, usually smooth or slightly roughened near the top.
Leaves with sheath smooth or scaberulous; ligule 0.5–1 mm long; blade flat or conduplicate, tapering to a bristle-like point, 1–2 mm wide, scabrous.
Panicle loose to open, much-branched, rounded to oval in outline, to 11 cm long, branches few, short. Glumes lanceolate, long-acuminate, lower 4–8 mm long, upper 7–12 mm long. Lemma linear to elliptic, 9–11 mm long, smooth or minutely scabrous towards apex, purple or brown; awns filiform, divergent or divaricate, to 35 mm long.
Flowering: in response to rain.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in sclerophyll forest, often on sandy soils.
