Aristida platychaeta S.T.Blake APNI*

Description: Slender perennial to 0.5 m high; culms thin, smooth.

Leaves with sheath strongly striate, almost smooth; ligule c. 1 mm long; blade conduplicate or often flat, finely attenuate, flexuous or curly, 1–2 mm wide, long-scabrous on upper surface.

Panicle spike-like, usually loose, interrupted in the lower part or continuous, 10–23 cm long, branches loosely appressed to axis. Glumes ovate to narrow-lanceolate, equal or subequal, 4–11 mm long, lower acute or abruptly acuminate, upper obtuse or subacute. Lemma linear-cylindric, 5–6.5 mm long, white-tuberculate, pallid; awns filiform, divergent to divaricate, straight or sometimes recurved, to 20 mm long.
