Description: Terrestrial herb.

Leaf linear to lanceolate, to 12 cm long and 12 mm wide, sparsely hairy.

Inflorescence to 40 cm high, usually <3-flowered. Sepals and lateral petals to 3 cm long, greenish cream with red stripes or entirely red-burgundy, drooping; sepal tails ending in short clubs c. 3 mm long. Labellum ovate to triangular, usually 12–18 mm long, 3-lobed, creamy yellow with a maroon tip, lateral margins with fringed with linear teeth to 2 mm long, becoming shorter towards tip. Central calli with linear heads, ± in 4, straight, parallel rows. Column with 2 yellow glands and broadening wings.


Flowering: September–October

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in sclerophyll forest and woodland, from coastal districts to inland plains.
NSW subdivisions: NC, CC, CT, ST, CWS, SWS
Other Australian states: Vic. S.A.

C. reticulata s. str. is confined to S.A. & Vic., has sepals and lateral petals to 5 cm long, held stiffly to obliquely deflexed, and sepals ending in clubs to 8 mm long. Nothing closely resembling it is known in N.S.W.
