Description: Perennial stoloniferous herb with erect flowering stems to 80 cm high; stems scabrid.

Leaves basal and cauline; basal leaves with petiole longer than lamina, 5–8 cm long, lamina ovate with cordate or rounded base and serrated margin; cauline leaves with shorter petioles and upper leaves sessile, 2–5 cm long, lamina lanceolate with cordate base and margins slightly to irregularly toothed; all leaves hispid or rarely glabrous.

Flowers a terminal raceme, flowers nodding; pedicels up to 5 mm long. Calyx 20–25 mm long; tube hemispherical, scabrid; lobes lanceolate, scabrid, shorter than tube, erect to reflexed. Corolla funnel-shaped, deep blue-purple to pale blue, 20–30 mm long; lobes 1/3 to as long as the tube, ciliate along margins, spreading. Style ± as long as corolla; stigmas 3.
