Convolvulus wimmerensis R.W.Johnson APNI*

Description: Perennial with trailing and twining branches; stems terete, moderately to densely hairy.

Leaves variable in shape from base to tip of stem; basal leaves with lamina oblong to ovate, margins crenate and base truncate to cordate; upper leaves ovate in outline, 1.3–3cm long, 8–20 mm wide, apex obtuse to rounded, margins deeply 5-lobed with narrow basal lobes that have secondary recurved lobes, ascending lobes conspicuous, moderately to densely hairy with silvery hairs; petiole 2–10 mm long.

Inflorescence 1–2-flowered, solitary in the leaf axils; peduncle terete, 10–35 mm long, moderately to densely hairy with appressed hairs. Sepals to 6.5 mm long, moderately hairy to subglabrous, usually ciliate at the apex. Corolla funnel-shaped, c. 10 mm long, 10–12 mm diam., pink.

Capsule globose, 5.5–6 mm long, c. 5.5 mm diam., glabrous; fruiting pedicels strongly recurved. Seeds 3.2–3.8 mm long, with scattered, low tubercles and no wing-like structure at the margins.

Distribution and occurrence: Mainly the Wimmera of Victoria but extending into the eastern part of the Riverina of NSW.

Found on flat to undulating plains in open eucalypt woodland.
