Cordyline sp. Mt Banda Banda (P.Hind 2232) APNI* Description: Shrub 1–3 m tall, suckering.
Leaves narrow-elliptic to nearly linear, c. 30–50 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, slightly narrowed to a flat petiolar region 3–5 mm wide; margins smooth or breaking up irregularly with age towards base, often recurved near base when dried; lamina more or less flat.
Panicles c. 20–40 cm long; pedicels c. 1.5 mm long. Perianth glabrous, blue - mauve; tepals unequal, outer tepals c. 6 mm long, inner tepals 7–8 mm long.
Fruit blackish, 6–8 mm diam.
Distribution and occurrence: Higher ranges (c. 600-1100 m alt.) from west of Kempsey south to NW of Taree. Apparently endemic, but needs further field study. In or near higher altitude forest with Nothofagus moorei, usually on volcanic (basalt or rhyolite) or metamorphic substrates.
