Description: Erect to ascending annual to c. 1 m high; stems appressed-pubescent.

Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets narrow-elliptic to oblanceolate, upper surface glabrous, lower surface sparsely appressed-pubescent or hoary, terminal leaflets 1–3 cm long, 6–9 mm wide, distinctly longer than laterals; petiole 8–25 mm long; stipules narrow, to c. 3 mm long.

Racemes 8–30 cm long, 8–16-flowered; pedicels 2–6 mm long. Calyx c. 4–5 mm long, pubescent. Corolla 10–13 mm long, yellow; wings shorter than keel; keel incurved sharply in its lower half, beak c. 10 mm long, tightly twisted at apex.

Pod 10–20 mm long, softly pubescent; seeds c. 2 mm long, brown.


Flowering: March

Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated, possibly naturalized in Grafton and Kyogle districts. Native of S Afr.
