Cyathochaeta diandra (R.Br.) Nees APNI* 
Description: Tuft-forming perennial.
Culms ± compressed, glabrous, smooth, 1-noded, to 60 cm long, 1.5–2.5 mm diam.
Leaves rigid, flattened above, channelled to triangular below, often twisted, shorter than to exceeding culm; sheaths pale yellow-brown to dark red-brown, fibrous remains persistent. Inflorescence to 80 cm long, to twice as long as culm. Spikelets c. 15 mm long. Glumes 3 or 4, lowest glume shorter than upper fertile glumes, yellow-brown to dark red-brown, glabrous, long-acute to mucronate, upper fertile glumes 14–15 mm long. Hypogynous bristles c. half length of body of nut. Anthers 6–8 mm long, with apical appendage 0.2–0.3 mm long.
Nut narrow-oblong, pale brown, often scabrous on margins, body c. 7 mm long, style base c. 8 mm long.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Coastal areas south from Port Stephens to NE Gippsland (Vic), extending inland to the lower Blue Mtns. Also in SE Qld, so likely to occur on North Coast of NSW, too. Grows in dry sclerophyll woodland, on sandy soils.
