Dianella congesta R.Br. APNI*

Description: Perennial herb to 1 m high, forming mats to 20 m diam.; roots fibrous.

Leaves to 45 cm long; sheaths conduplicate, completely occluded; blade 10–15 mm wide.

Inflorescence ± within foliage; cymules condensed, 2–8-flowered. Perianth mid- to dark blue; outer tepals 7.5–8.5 mm long, 5–7-veined; inner tepals 6.5–7.5 mm long, 3–5-veined. Stamens with filament swellings 1–1.5 mm long, yellow; anthers yellow-brown.

Berry 6–12 mm long.

Distribution and occurrence: Coast north from Bawley Point.

Grows mainly on coastal sand-dunes.
