Erica lusitanica Rudolphi APNI*

Description: Erect shrub 0.5–3.3 m high, with pubescent branches. Leaves suberect, narrow-linear, 3–7 mm long, < 1 mm wide, thick, glabrous, with a longitudinal groove on the lower surface, shortly petiolate. Flowers in lateral racemes; pedicels shorter than the corolla. Flowers white with buds tinged pink. Calyx c. 1 mm long. Corolla tube 4–5 mm long; lobes obtuse, c. 1 mm long. Anthers dark purple, basal appendages yellow. Flowers autumn-spring. A garden escape, grows in pastures, scrub and on roadsides; locally abundant, chiefly in the Blue Mtns. Native of S Eur. CC CT; Vic., Tas., S.A.
