Description: Perennial often flowering during first year, erect to decumbent, to 30 cm, but often < 20 cm high, ± pubescent.

Leaves ovate-oblong, mostly 10–45 mm long and 3–9 mm wide, margins toothed, base asymmetric or ± cordate, both surfaces with long scattered hairs, becoming ± glabrous, particularly on upper surface; petiole to 2 mm long; stipules deeply lobed or fringed.

Cyathia in dense, shortly pedunculate cymes, floral leaves reduced or only lower pair leafy; involucre 1–1.8 mm long; glandular appendages petaloid, 1–2 mm long.

Capsule c. 1.8 mm long, smooth, glabrous; seeds 1.2–1.4 mm long, greyish or brown, transversely wrinkled.
