Description: Perennial herb usually 7–20 cm high, with many ascending to procumbent branches, branches with 2 rows of stiff recurved non-glandular hairs.

Upper stem leaves ± elliptic to ± obovate, 4.0–7.5 mm long, 1.2–3.2 mm wide, margins with usually 1 pair teeth, or sometimes entire; base narrow-cuneate.

Racemes mostly 4–10-flowered, sometimes up to 20 flowers. Calyx 3.3–6 mm long, glabrous except for glandular hairs on margins of teeth. Corolla 7.0–10.5 mm long, mauve to violet with deeper markings in throat; tube 5.5–8.0 mm long, narrow part glabrous, broad part with glandular hairs and sometimes with non-glandular hairs. Stamen filaments usually glabrous, sometimes with hairs at base of lower filaments; anthers 1.1–1.7 mm long, connectives densely hairy.

Capsule c. 4–5.5 mm long, glabrous.


Flowering: spring–summer.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows on sandstone cliffs in shallow soil on ledges or sometimes trailing over rock, in higher parts of Blue Mtns.
