Geranium dissectum L. APNI*

Description: Ascending to decumbent annual herb, stems to 50 cm long, with scattered reflexed hairs; taproot thin, branched.

Leaves on flowering stems opposite, palmatisect with lamina ± circular to reniform in outline, c. 3 cm long and up to 4 cm wide; lobes linear and further divided into secondary lobes or teeth, with scattered appressed hairs; petiole to 8 cm long.

Flowers paired; peduncle to 2 cm long; pedicels to 1.5 cm long. Sepals 5–7 mm long. Petals 7–10 mm long, deep pink. Anthers yellow with blue dehiscence lines.

Fruit 12–13 mm long; mericarps hirsute; seeds pale brown, distinctly broad-pitted.

Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated as an ornamental; naturalized in Vic. very close to the N.S.W. border. Native of Eur. ?SWS; Vic., Tas., S.A.
