Description: Shrub to 2 m high; stems glabrous or pubescent.

Leaves often densley crowded; leaflets obovate to obovate-cuneate, 10–30 mm long, glabrous or pubescent; petiole slender, 10–20 mm long.

Racemes to 5 cm long, flowers numerous but close together. Flowers 8–9 mm long; pedicels ≤ 4 mm long. Calyx c. 4 mm long, upper lip ± truncate, teeth of lower lip mostly triangular or broader, usually shorter than tube in mature flowers. Petals mostly yellow with some orange or green toning and red to purplish black markings. Ovary ± glabrous, ≤ 4-ovuled.

Pod obliquely ovate to oblong, mostly 12–20 mm long; aril with a short base encircling an elliptic hilum.
