Grevillea oxyantha Makinson APNI*

Description: Shrub 1–3 m high.

Leaves broad-ovate to obovate, or narrowly so, or elliptic or ± circular, 2–6 cm long, 15–35 mm wide, margins entire, upper surface pitted, lower surface exposed, tomentose with short curled to wavy hairs or (subsp. ecarinata) subsericeous with straight hairs.

Conflorescences erect to decurved, usually simple, ± cylindrical. Perianth scarlet to crimson on the outside, inner surface pink, subsericeous to ± tomentose outside, bearded inside. Gynoecium 18–24 mm long; ovary stipitate, glabrous; style minutely pubescent or papillose in apical 3–10 mm; pollen presenter lateral.

Follicle glabrous.


Flowering: Flowers chiefly August–December

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in various situations, usually in or near the margins of eucalypt forest in rocky sites, often near peaks or cliffs, sometimes near creeks; areas from Wee Jasper south to near Tumut and Batlow and SE to Brown Mtn.
