Synonyms: Cynoglossum suaveolens R.Br. APNI*

Description: Erect herb to 50 cm high; stem with stiff, retrorse to spreading hairs.

Basal leaves broad- to narrow-spathulate with lamina 7–20 cm long, 12–25 mm wide and petiole 3–5 cm long; stem leaves narrow-elliptic to lanceolate, sessile, decreasing in size towards the apex.

Sepals elliptic, c. 2 mm long, enlarging slightly as the fruit matures, fused in the basal third. Corolla 4–4.5 mm long, white or sometimes blue. Mericarps ovoid to elliptic, 4–5 mm long; barbed spines more or less equally scattered on the convex outer surface.
