Ixia maculata L. APNI* 
Description: Herb 20–60 cm high; corm 10–18 mm diam.
Leaves 5–8, erect, linear to lanceolate, 10–35 cm long, 2–9 mm wide.
Scape unbranched; spike 4-many-flowered, flowers crowded towards apex; spathe bracts ovate to oblong, 8–14 mm long, often deeply toothed, membranous, rust-red, brown-streaked or ± colourless at base. Perianth pale yellow to orange with dark reddish or purple centre; tube narrow-cylindrical, 5–8 mm long; lobes obtuse to acute, 15–30 mm long, 8–12 mm wide, spreading. Filaments often fused basally. Ovary c. 4 mm long; style branches spreading at level of anthers, recurved, 3–5 mm long.
Flowering: September–October
Distribution and occurrence: Grows along roadsides and on wasteland, in sandy soils; naturalized in the Wagga region.
