Lepidosperma evansianum K.L.Wilson APNI* 
Description: Tufted perennial with short rhizome. Culms rigid, erect, compressed, oval in cross section to ± biconvex, striate, glabrous, smooth, 20–55 cm high, 1.0–1.5 mm diam.; margins rounded, smooth.
Leaves similar in form to culms but slightly shorter, 0.7–1.5 mm wide; sheath straw-coloured to dark grey-brown at base, not viscid, ± shining.
Inflorescence oblong to ovate in outline, narrow, erect, 5–7 cm long, c. 1 cm diam.; involucral bract shorter than inflorescence. Spikelets ± numerous and densely clustered, 4–6 mm long. Glumes 5–7, long-acute to acute, often mucronate, glabrous or puberulous near apex, mixed red-brown and straw-coloured to grey-brown with age; lowest 2 or 3 empty, about half as long as fertile glumes; fertile 6.0–6.5 mm long. Scales 4 or 5, about a quarter the length of nut (including bristle portion: about three-quarters), whitish to grey. Anthers 2.2–3.3 mm long, excluding appendage 0.3–0.5 mm long.
Nut subterete, obovoid to ellipsoid, 1.8–3.8 mm long, 1.0–1.5 mm diam., straw-coloured or grey-green, smooth or wrinkled, shining, minutely reticulate under surface; style base persistent, thickened, pyramidal, glabrous, from about half as long as to equalling nut body.
Flowering: Spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Blue Mtns. Grows on wet sandstone cliff faces.

This species is considered data-deficient by Saving our Species (SoS, DPIE) which means a conservation project cannot be developed for it. Visit their website and contact SoS if you have additional information.
This differs from most other species of Lepidosperma in having an elongated style base. Also, the hypogynous scales have a long bristle portion at apex about as long as basal scale-like portion or slightly longer.
