Description: Prostrate spreading perennials to c. 50 cm tall with long trailing stolons rooting at the nodes.

Sheaths very finely scabrid, sometimes with a few scattered long fine hairs; ligule c. 0.5 mm long, membranous, minutely ciliate; blade 2–6 mm wide, glaucous; margins scabrid.

Inflorescence a spike 3.5–7 cm long, c. 3 mm wide, cylindrical. Spikelets 5–7 mm long. Glumes coriaceous, acute; lower absent except on terminal spikelet; upper glume longer than the spikelet and closing the cavity, 7-nerved. Lemma c. 3 mm long, 3-nerved, membranous, usually hairy in upper 50%; palea shorter than the lemma, 2-keeled, the keels minutely ciliate.
