Micrantheum hexandrum Hook.f. APNI*

Description: Erect shrubs to c. 2 m high, ± glabrous, branches sometimes pubescent.

Leaves oblong to narrow-oblanceolate or oblanceolate, 8–15 mm long, 2–3 mm wide, apex shortly mucronate.

Flowers 1–3 in axils. Male flowers on peduncle to c. 8 mm long, female flowers on shorter peduncle, but lengthening to 5 mm in fruit. Male perianth segments 3 mm long; stamens 6 or 9.

Capsule 6–7 mm long, c. 6 mm wide, with 3 thick divergent lobes at the top.


Flowering: spring.

Distribution and occurrence: Found in shallow soils on granite outcrops on the tablelands or along rivers around Sydney.
