Myriophyllum simulans Orchard APNI* 
Description: Perennial herb, aquatic or fully emergent; stems mostly 1–2 mm diam., rooting at the nodes.
Emergent leaves in whorls of usually 3 or 4 or irregularly arranged, linear to terete, 5–15 mm long, up to 2 mm wide (wider in pinnatifid leaves), entire, toothed or divided into narrow segments.
Plants monoecious; male and female flowers often on separate shoots, solitary in the axils. Male flowers sessile; sepals linear to lanceolate; petals 2.5–3 mm long, reddish. Female flowers sessile; sepals and petals absent; stigmas red or pink. Mericarps ovoid, up to 1 mm long, usually deep reddish purple, rounded and sharply tuberculate.
Distribution and occurrence: in still water, or more frequently, fully emergent on mud.
