Plantago antarctica Decne. APNI* 
Description: Perennial herb, with a long thick taproot; pilose.
Leaves basal, elliptic to obovate or oblanceolate, mostly 7–10 cm long, 8–20 mm wide, 3–5-veined, margins ± toothed; with brown hairs in the leaf axils.
Scapes 9–20 cm long; spike cylindrical, 1.5–3 cm long, rarely more; bracts ovate, 1.4–1.7 mm long, with a broad glabrous or pilose keel. Sepals elliptic, 2.2–3 mm long, keel not prominent. Corolla lobes broad-ovate, 1.3–1.8 mm long.
Capsule ovoid or almost globose, mostly 2.3–3.5 mm long; seeds 4.
Flowering: December–February
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in montane and subalpine grassland and woodland; south from the Brindabella Ra., mostly from 1100 to 1500 m alt.
