Description: Perennial woody prostrate herb to 50 cm when flowering.
Leaves in a rosette up to 21 cm long, 3.5–6.5 wide, ovate to obovate, gradually narrowing into winged petioles. upper surface sparsely tuberculate to hirtellus to woolly, lower surface woolly. Previous seasons dead leaves remaining. Cauline leaves similar but clasping the stem at their base, with upper-most leaves becoming linear.
Inflorescence with 1–10 flowers, each on a bracteate, terminal or axillary peduncle to 20 cm long. Involucral bracts sessile and clawed, red-brown, minutely toothed; intermediate bracts ovate, 9–11 mm long, with claws 4–5 mm long, densely glandular. Florets yellow, ray florets 30, disc florets c.170.
Achenes straight or curved, brown, smooth or sparsely minutely papillose.
Distribution and occurrence: Known only from the New South Wales and Queensland border on the McPherson Range in Lamington National Park and the Border Ranges National Park. On exposed faces of scarps on the upper slopes of the range at altitudes of c. 1100 m, with a vegetion of Nothofagus closed forest, but also in a drier habitat in open Eucalyptus forest, exposed to westerly winds. In shallow soil of basalt origin. All known populations are within national parks.
