Description: Climbing or trailing herb; stems ± retrorsely pubescent and sparsely glandular.

Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets ovate to rhombic or ± circular, 0.8–3 cm long, usually wider than long, pubescent to ± glabrous, lower surface gland-dotted; petiole 1–6 cm long; stipules c. 2 mm long.

Racemes 2–10 cm long, 2–15-flowered. Calyx 3–5 mm long, pubescent. Corolla mostly 4–6 mm long, yellow often streaked with purple.

Pod oblong-falcate, c. 13 mm long, 3–5 mm wide, with short, fine hairs; seeds 2, reniform, c. 3 mm long, greyish, brown or black and often mottled.


Flowering: spring–summer.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in a variety of habitats, mostly on heavy soils in grassland.
