Description: Rampant shrub, often climbing, branches glabrous with hooked prickles.

Leaves pinnate, mostly 3-foliolate or rarely 5-foliolate; leaflets elliptic to ovate, 15–60 mm long, 10–20 mm wide, margins toothed, glabrous.

Flowers solitary, 6–8 cm diam., white, fragrant; bracts not prominent; pedicel and calyx bristly. Hip ovoid, c. 20 mm long, bristly.


Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated, not fully naturalized. Native of China.
