Description: Annual, glabrous below, glandular-hairy above.

Leaves elliptic to obovate, 1–3 cm long, 2–6 mm wide, glandular hairs present on young leaves but usually absent on mature leaves, only the midvein conspicuous; upper leaves sessile, basal leaves petiolate.

Inflorescence lax and spreading; pedicels 3–16 mm long. Calyx 6–10 mm long. Limb of petals 3–6 mm long, mauve.

Capsule short-ovoid.


Flowering: spring.

Distribution and occurrence: Only one record as naturalized, in 1899 at Jenolan Caves. Native of Medit. region.
