Senecio tenuiflorus (DC.) Sieber ex Sch.Bip. APNI*

Description: Erect or ascending annual or biennial herb, usually 30–80 cm high, cobwebby, few-branched except below inflorescence.

Lower leaves crowded, ± oblanceolate, 4–10 cm long, 5–15 mm wide, margins toothed; middle leaves lanceolate, 3–8 cm long, 2–8 mm wide, margins entire to ± toothed; upper surface cobwebby to ± scabrous, lower surface whitish, bristly with multicellular tapering hairs ending in long filaments.

Inflorescence an open corymbose; heads narrow-cylindrical, 2–3 mm diam., glabrous; involucral bracts 9–13, 7–8 mm long, with 1 prominent vein; bracteoles 3–5. Florets 20–55, about same length as involucre; outer florets filiform; inner florets tubular.

Achenes 2.2–2.5 mm long, plump, not beaked, red-brown, ribs not prominent; pappus 6–8 mm long.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in disturbed sites and in open woodland, often growing with S. quadridentatus; chiefly on the ranges, from Gloucester district to the Jenolan Caves.
