Description: Small spindly subshrub, often spiny. Branches intricate, densely stellate-hairy when young.

Leaves ovate to obovate, 3–10 mm long, 4–6 mm wide or absent, base cuneate to truncate, margins crenate, surfaces stellate-hairy, green above, paler below; stipules 0.5–3 mm long.

Flowers solitary, rarely paired, on pedicels not exceeding leaves, 2–6 mm long. Calyx lobes 0.7–1.2 mm long, triangular, eventually spreading or loosely clasping base of fruit. Petals yellow, 2–4 mm long, emarginate.

Fruit depressed-ovoid or conical, c. 4 mm diam., ± pubescent, smooth and very thin-walled; mericarps 5–8, reticulate on lateral wall, deeply grooved apically.


Distribution and occurrence: Sandy soils, rocky creek beds or plains country with solonized brown soils.
