Description: Terrestrial herb.

Leaf linear, to 12 cm long and 10 mm wide, keeled, fleshy, dark green.

Inflorescence to 50 cm high 2–10-flowered. Perianth segments to 15 mm long and 5 mm wide, lavender-blue with dark or reddish spots on lateral petals; lateral sepals narrower than dorsal sepal; lateral petals rounded, concave (sometimes with a short claw). Column to 8 mm long, blue. Midlobe hood black to dark blue with a notched yellow tip; opposite ends of each notch often forming a short, triangular tooth. Lateral arms obliquely erect with terminal, white tufts.


Flowering: November and December.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in montane to subalpine woodland on shallow soils; south from Canberra district.
