Trachymene incisa Rudge APNI*

Description: Erect perennial herb to 80 cm high with thick perennial rootstock; sparsely hairy to almost glabrous.

Leaves mostly towards the base of the plant, deeply 3–5-lobed to dissected, laminar broad ovate in outline, 1.4–6.5 cm long, 1.5–8 cm wide; segments elliptic or linear, 0.5–5 mm wide; petiole to 13 cm long.

Umbels borne in dichasial cymes subtended by leaf-like bracts, becoming tri-fid or simple and sessile; each umbel 7–22 mm diam., 30–60 flowered; peduncle 4–24 cm long. Bracts 10–14, 3–7 mm long. Flowers bisexual. Petals 0.9–2.2 mm long, white or rarely pink. Ovary 2-locular.

Fruit broad ovate, 2.4–3.6 mm long, brown; one or both mericarps maturing. Mericarps 1.8–2 mm wide; smooth or tuberculate to papillate. Carpophores entire or shortly 2 or 4-fid, 1.2–2.1 mm long.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in sclerophyll forest and cleared areas favouring sandy soils and rock crevices; north from Ulladulla.
