Description: Perennial tufted herb, 12–70 cm high, branching below the inflorescence, glabrous to hirsute.

Leaves alternate or sometimes the lowermost opposite, obovate or oblanceolate, becoming linear up the stem, 4–95 mm long, 1–11 mm wide, apex obtuse to acute, margins flat or sometimes undulate, entire or with small callus teeth, glabrous or hirsute.

Flowers in cymes. Sepals 1–5 mm long. Corolla blue; tube 1–3.5 mm long; lobes 4.5–13.5 mm long. Style 3-fid, strongly constricted near the stigmatic lobes.
