Field Characters: Small sub-canopy tree (mostly 15-25 m high, sometimes a large shrub); Bole almost cylindrical or markedly fluted (usually up to 40 cm diam.); straight (up to 6 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark white or pale yellow, rough, tessellated, slightly furrowed cork, or fissured; Subrhytidome (under-bark) yellow or yellowish brown; less than 25 mm thick, 8.0-12.0; bark blaze with two layers; strongly aromatic; resinous/linament-like; outer blaze yellow, pale brown, or white, markings absent, fibrous; inner blaze pink or pale yellow, with stripes, granular without splinters; bark exudate (sap) present, colourless, not readily flowing (spotty), colour not changing on exposure to air, not sticky; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.
Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.
Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, opposite (in pairs, opposite one another on the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves equally broad throughout much of length or broadest at or near middle, 4.0-7.0 cm, 2.0-3.5 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, mucronate or acuminate (shortly), venation pinnate, secondary veins open, not prominent, but visible, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green, upper surface dark green (glossy), indumentum (hairs) absent; present; domatia absent; stipules absent.
Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers on a branched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, stalked, flowers with many planes of symmetry; perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth yellow (greenish pale); 5, free; stamens 5, present, free of each other, free of the perianth; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 4; styles solitary, 1.
Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on branched axis, fruit 80.0 mm long, 60.0 mm diam., yellow, white, or cream-coloured, not spiny, fleshy, simple, indehiscent, hesperidium; seeds 4, to about 5 mm long (2-3 mm long), not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam. (c. 2 mm diam.).
Distribution: Morobe or Central.
